Pillow Party Massacre is a 2023 American slasher horror film about five female friends who meet up for a week-long Summer getaway in the woods. Hoping to reconnect and reconcile they are, unfortunately, all haunted by an April Fool’s prank that went fatally wrong two years previously.
Written and directed by Calvin Morie McCarthy (Conjuring: the Beyond; Mutant Vampires from the Planet Neptune; A Haunting in Ravenwood; The Amityville Poltergeist; Jesus I Was Evil). Produced by Chad Buffett, Michael Conroy, Susan Helfrich, Brad Littlefield and Scott Motisko. Executive produced by Rich Wolff.

“Outside of a few bad moments (the title refers to a cringe-inducing pillow fight montage scene where the girls inexplicably strip down during their play fight for no apparent reason other than viewer titillation), this was entertaining, I didn’t even mind that it didn’t really get properly going until the halfway point. “The killer’s identity is the other thing that viewers may take issue with in Pillow Party Massacre. Unlike in giallos, the identity of the killer in most slashers isn’t hard to guess. But this time it’s a bit too obvious and many viewers will probably guess who it is even before the leads even get to the house. Overall though, Pillow Party Massacre has a lot going for it especially if you’re looking for the genre equivalent of comfort food.” 3 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
